There was never a time when golf didn’t create noise in the sports industry. From exhibitions of Tiger Woods to the most current expositions of Jason Day, from their personal lives to their golf winnings, everything is just in the open. Here’s what’s hot in today’s golf tournament.
The 16th of the month of August will be remembered as the day when amateur golfer Jason Day proved his worth as a professional golfer, as he bagged the PGA championship and had a share of at least $1.8 million. The match was not easy for Day to win, especially with the other top-notch golfers that participated to the annual golfing event.
The win pushed Jason Day’s status as a golfer especially that it led to his first major championship in this particular sport. His runner up, Jordan Spieth also believes that this could be a breakout win for Day that had a semi-wonderful career as an amateur in golf. This undeniably proves that he was what it takes to compete to any major golfing event, even at world championship level. Although the win was not easy, it appeared to be an amazing one and convincing as well.
Jason Day, while obviously trying to keep his feet on the ground, admitted that he was also shocked that the win came through for him. It was not without a tough fight, given the caliber of other participants to the famed tournament. While many believed that the winner would be somebody else, Day stated that he was just doing his best to play the game he really loves.
His championship also means a lot, as he became the fourth Australian to win the championship since the event’s inaugural year in 1958. He now belong to the ranks of fellow Australians David Graham that won the sporting activity in 1979, Wayne Grady in 1990 and the last one Aussie to win it before Day, Steve Elkington in 1995. After 20 long years of waiting, Australians were given a reason to celebrate with the victory of Jason Day this year.
The current PGA champion said that the win also came because of the undying support of his fans and fellow Australians that are just there watching his back and staying with him every step of the way. Jason Day promised that he would do his best to follow up this accomplishment by continuing to train and practice to do well in upcoming golf tournaments.
Jason Day also admitted that he was also guided by champion golfer Tiger Woods. He said that although his messages were a bit confusing, they were still helpful in reminding him what to do especially when his next moves become very doubtful.
